PROJECT 3 - PROMOTION

Front Page of Website

On-line Registration
An online registration system was used to make it easier for volunteers to sign-up.  It also allowed us to track who was coming and at what time - plus it gave us the full contact information for everyone.

Flier
Flier was distributed via e-mails, passed out at Scout and Venturing meetings and handout out at roundtable.

Patch for youth participants

The Conservation Good Turn patch will be given to recognize individual youth who participate in this meaningful conservation project.  The hours for this project will also be entered in the Good Turn for America database.

Merit Badge for Boy Scouts
I am offering the Soil & Water Conservation merit badge to Scouts who are able to participate on the project on Saturday and come back on Sunday to complete the badge.

Roundtable promotion
On August 8, 2009 I gave a presentation to the Frontier District leaders at their monthly roundtable meeting. Two of the Scoutmasters in attendance said their boys would be interested.

facebook
I created a facebook event and sent messages to over 350 people to come help me!

E-mails to Scoutmasters, Crew Advisors, Friends & Family
I sent an e-mail to all the Cubmasters and Scoumasters in the District asking for their help with the project.   Click here for a copy of the Scoutmaster e-mail and here for a copy of the Cubmaster e-mail.  I also sent two e-mails to our Crew members.

Phone Calls
Several calls were made to recruit and remind participants.
